Wong Kok Char Chan Teng: Char Siew Bun

I bought the Char Siew Bun (Honey Roasted Pork Bun) together with the Polo Bun. I saw the Char Siew Soh which is recommended by CK Lam, but I didn’t get it. I chose to have Char Siew Bun instead.

The waiter who serve me was good in doing business. At first, I bought 2 Polo Bun and 1 Char Siew Bun. Then he asked me to get another one, to make it 4 and put into a box for me. I asked my mom what she wants, she picked the Char Siew Bun.

The Char Siew Bun looks like a normal bun, with the sesame on top.

The filling for Char Siew Bun of course will be the Char Siew. They are a lot inside. I was not sure whether there is any coloring on the char siew, they look quite red. My mom complained the char siew was oo much and too sweet for her. I also think that the char siew was sweet.

The Char Siew Bun is selling at RM1.70 each while the Polo Bun is at RM1.50 each.

    Penang Tua Pui,
Oh, too bad…. What to do? Wife likes it, and for sure you need to follow. I seldom go eat, most of the time I only buy their egg tart and polo bun.

I think the other day when I wrote on the Polo Bun, I was too lazy to continue write on this Char Siew Bun, that’s why I put it into separate post. πŸ™‚

  3. Hi there, just popping in to say hello and thanks for your recent comment on Rasa Malaysia. Glad to find another Penang food blog.

I tried this restaurant many years ago, the one in Pulau Tikus. I personally prefer the buns in Shanghai Ding. Anyway, these look great, too. πŸ™‚

  7. For this kind of Char Siew Bun, the best still goes for Seremban’s. It taste sooooooooooo good when taken freshly baked and while still hot. Wong Kok’s one usually they put it in microwave and reheat it only. πŸ˜€

  8. email2me,
I still haven’t gone to Seremban. I wish to go there one day to try out the food. I agree with your point of view. No choice la, better than nothing. Like the saying, No Fish Prawn also OK. Hahaha. πŸ™‚

    Sean,
Hungry? Hehehe, quick quick go to grab some food!!
