Step into the festive month of December, David Brown’s Restaurant & Tea Terrace has come out 2 different set dinner, 2016 December Set Dinner and 2016 Christmas Menu. December Set Dinner is available for the whole month of December except on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, where the Christmas Menu will be served.
Let’s start with the 2016 December Set Dinner. It is priced at RM138++ per person.
Starter
Turkey Boxing – Sauteed Spinach, Caramelized Shallot, Turkey Jus.
Soup
Pumpkin Veloute – Pumpkin Croquette, Pumpkin Chips, Shredded Parmesan.
For Entree, choose 1 among the 3.
Roasted Chicken Thigh – Mushroom Risotto, Carrot Puree, Crispy Enoki, Portwine Jus.
Seared Line-caught Barramundi – Sauteed HK Kailan, Potato Pave, Mango-pineapple Salsa, Romesco Sauce.
Black Angus Medley – Black Angus Sirloin & Slow Braised Rump, Roasted Plum Tomato, Phyllo Mushroom Bundle, Horseradish Cream, Beef Jus.
Dessert
Green Tea Cremeux – Red Bean Jam, Pistachio Crumble, Green Tea Tuile.
2016 Christmas Menu is priced at RM238++ per person. With every 2 sets, a complimentary bottle of house wine (red or white) will be given. It you are not into the wine, you can opt for a 10% discount off total bill.
Amuse Bouche
Smoke Salmon on Baguette Toast.
Starter
Hokkaido Scallop & Smoked Duck – Apple Remoulade, Salmon Roe, Green with Italian Dressing.
The Soup served is the same as the one from December Menu: Pumpkin Veloute – Pumpkin Croquette, Pumpkin Chips, Shredded Parmesan.
Pre Entree
Mixed Berries Granita.
For Entree, choose one among the 3. Only Turkey Roulade is different from the December Menu. The other 2 main dishes are the same, which are Seared Line-caught Barramundi and Black Angus Medley.
Turkey Roulade – Roasted Potato, Chicken Liver Stuffing, Glazed Apple, Cranberry Port Demi.
Pre Dessert
Mango Sorbet.
Dessert
Chocolate Cremeux – Bitter Cocoa Crumble, Butterscotch, Caramelized Banana, Vanilla Ice Cream.
Red & White Wine
Overall, I like the soup Pumpkin Veloute. The Pumpkin taste good and the added shredded Parmesan makes the soup to taste even better. For starter, Hokkaido Scallop & Smoked Duck from the Christmas Menu is definitely the winner. For the main, Seared Line-caught Barramundi and Black Angus Medley will be my choice. For chicken liver lovers, you will need to choose the Turkey Roulade. Come to the Dessert, I’m more towards to Chocolate Cremeux if compare to Green Tea Cremeux.
Too bad the food from the menu is fixed. It will be good if I can mix and match the food I want to make my own menu. Of course, in that case, the price will be changed according to the food you choose.
