The Top has become a popular tourist spot not only to all the tourists who are visiting Penang, also to all locals as well. It has the Penang’s largest indoor theme park , which is a fun place for adult and kids to explore, and Window of The Top that can let you to get a stunning view of Georgetown through Rainbow Skywalk and Observatory Deck. If you are dare to take up the challenge, The Gravityz is another activity that you cannot miss! Besides all these attractions, one can easily find a place for breakfast, lunch, tea break or even dinner with different kind of choices available. If you are more towards to Chinese food, then Imperial Court Restaurant is the one that you need to head to.
Imperial Court Restaurant 王朝海鮮酒家 is the only Chinese restaurant located at level 6 in The Top, Komtar, Penang. It is specializes in authentic dim sum, seafood and Cantonese dishes. The signboard can be easily spotted, letting you know that you need to go up the stairs in order to enter the restaurant.

Once you are up there, you will see the entrance with Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee figure, posing in front of the entrance.
The main dining hall can fit up to 400 guests with its spacious 13,000 square feet space.
If you want to dine in a more private way, there are 9 private rooms available for reservation. However, to use the private rooms, for a 10 pax table, a total spend of at least RM1000 must be met. There is also a bigger room that can accommodate up to 20-23 pax for event and function.
Thanks to Mr Criz and Imperial Court Restaurant for the invitation, I have the chance to try out the Dim Sum and some A La Carte dishes.
Dim Sum
Imperial Dumpling Served with Shark’s Fin in Supreme Stock 鱼翅灌汤饺 – RM18 each. It is a big dumpling. If you are a small eater, you will definitely full or half full after eating the whole piece.
Maybe due to too much time taken on the photography, the skin of the dumpling has become dried and harden. However, it is still good for its fresh ingredients.
Some of the restaurant’s Siew Mai will have the pork smell if the pork used is not so fresh. It is not an issue for the Siew Mai from Imperial Court Restaurant.
This is yum yum!!
Wok Fried Radish Cake with Egg & XO Sauce – RM9/portion. *
A La Carte Dishes
The ribs are seasoned well but the meat is a bit hard to my liking. I prefer the meat to be softer and easily to tear it off from the bone. The restaurant will provide a pair of transparent plastic glove for you if you don’t want to get your hand dirty for eating the ribs.
The bean curd is homemade as the texture is not so smooth if compare to the Japanese tofu selling in the supermarket. But I like it because it tastes better and who doesn’t like homemade food, right?
Deep Fried Egg Plant with XO Chili Sauce 避风塘脆炸茄子 – RM18/portion. *
For a person who doesn’t really eat egg plant (yes, I am talking about myself), this dish will make you eat and eat nonstop. Maybe it is because of the deep fried?
Stir Fry Mix Vegetables with Macadamia Nuts 佛钵夏果四宝蔬 – RM22/portion. *
The chef made an extra yam ring of us on the review day. For normal day, this dish is not served with the yam ring. I love to have it with the yam ring though, as the yam is soft to be eaten. The macadamia nuts are an add on. Love it.
This is definitely a dish for the congee and seafood lover. The congee is full of top notch ingredients such as king prawns, grouper fish fillets, meat crab and scallops. Slurp!
Dessert
Osmanthus Jelly 桂花糕 – RM2/pc. It is always good to have dessert after a meal. The texture of this Osmanthus Jelly is not like the normal jelly, it is more chewy. You will need to taste it yourself.
Price is subjected to 10% service tax.
* Note: All the dishes served on that day are per 2 portion.
Set Lunch, Set Menu, Wedding Package and even Full Moon Package are available in Imperial Court Restaurant.
