Dragon-i Restaurant

I went to Queensbay Mall again. This time, I brought my brother there since he never been there. Last time when he was in Penang, there is no Queensbay Mall yet. After walking for sometime, we headed to Dragon-i to have our dinner.

When Dragon-i Restaurant newly open in Queensbay Mall, you can see a large crowd in front of the restaurant. You need to get a number and wait for your turn. There are seats available for you to sit while waiting. Before this, I only tried it once with 2 of my friends last year. That time, I not yet start my food blog, no photos have been taken. This is the second time, and of course, I will not miss the chance to take the food photos.

The waitress directly guide us to our table without letting us wait for a single second. The menu is provided to each of us.

The cutlery set.

I like the design of the wet towel packet. I like black. It looks so classy!

I also like the chopstick. They were engraved with the Chinese restaurant name on top.

Before the main dish is served, the tibits (This is what the restaurant named it) was provided, peanuts. I think we can get this kind of peanuts from the departmental store. It’s from the can food. I saw it before. The peanuts are not the crunchy type. They are a bit salty and the taste was just great. This small portion of peanuts cost RM2.

My brother ordered some dish to have it with rice.

The rice was served in a small portion as well. To make it clear, I took the photos of the rice. My mum said, rice also wants to have photo. I replied, of course need to have photos, I cannot miss any of them!! Haha.

The first dish to be on our table was the Chilled Sichuan Cold Spicy Chicken.

The chicken was tough. It’s not tender enough. It was hard to chew. The sauce that mixed with the chicken helped to add some points for this dish. However, the sauce was not spicy enough. It will be better if the sauce is more spicy.

My brother ordered another dish called Honey Glazed Crispy Eel.

Eel or better known as unagi, was one of my favorite dish. This crispy eel was really crispy (Nonsense, hahaha). Nothing much to say about this dish, it was just yummy.

Next, we have Stir Fried String Bean with Minced Meat. This dish was recommended by the waiter. According to him, this dish was good to have it with rice. He was telling the truth.

The String Bean was soft, nice to be eaten. The minced meat was too salty. However, this dish is highly recommended. It was really good.

My mum ordered the La Mian with Sichuan Hot & Sour Soup.

Again, the soup was not hot enough. It was only sour. But, I like the La Mian. The La Mian was served in a big bowl. You will feel full after finishing it.

If you go to Dragon-i, the food that you cannot miss will be the Xiao Long Bao, Shanghainese Steamed Meat Dumpling. Previously, 4 dumplings are cost RM8. Now, the price increase to RM9.

The serving for the Shanghainese Steamed Meat Dumpling was not in a nice way. But the dumplings are still maintaining its quality. Remember, don’t put the dumpling in your mouth immediately when they were served. If not, your tongue will get burn.

After the main dish, it was the dessert time. We ordered Pomelo Mango Sago Cream, Sesame Dumpling with Ginger Soup and Red Bean Paste Pancake.

Pomelo Mango Sago Cream.

I ordered this dessert. I like mangoes. The pomelo was a bit bitter. The mangoes were great. You need to try this dessert when you go to Dragon-i.

Sesame Dumpling with Ginger Soup. This is a normal dessert. I didn’t try it since my brother like it very much. I can have it anytime I want.

Red Bean Paste Pancake.

It was deep fried. To me, it was too oily but the taste was good. We can have this pancake at other restaurant as well.

In the menu, I found one very interesting food. It was the Steamed Red Bean Bun. From the name, it was just a normal food. But if you look at the photo, I think you will think of ordering the bun as well. I didn’t ordered. RM6 for 2 was a bit expensive to me. They are cute right?

I managed to take the photos on the dishes that we ordered on the menu. It has the photo, name and price on it.

We spent a total of RM126.50 for 3 persons, which is equivalent to RM42.17 per person. For the price wise, it is in the middle high range.

  12. It was very nice during my first visit with good service, food and environment. I ordered a dessert with red bean and blended ice, the santan ( coconut milk) was not fresh and had a bad odour, how can such a restaurant served spoilt food. We changed and get a 20% discount on our bill since we are close to the supervisor. Then after i paid another visits, the ramen just so bad that me and mum couldnt finish. What a waste. Sorry food
