Vistana Penang Bukit Jambul is proudly present to you on its Chinese New Year Yee Sang Banquet, starting from January 18 2016 to February 22 2016. For lunch, it will be from 12pm-3pm, while dinner will be serve from 7pm-10pm.

They are having 3 Set Menu for you to choose from, Set Menu 1 @ RM618++, Set Menu 2 @ RM688++ and Set Menu 3 @ RM888++. For the night itself, we were being served with the customized menu dishes, which is priced at RM688++. It was the traditional 8 course meal.
Salmon Yee Sang. One of the item that will not miss out during the Chinese New Year Banquet. Yam thin strips are added into the Yee Sang, a little surprise for me.
Braised Pumpkin Soup with Assorted Seafood.
One thing I like about this soup is the crab meat and the sweetness of the soup, which is coming from the braised pumpkin. Tofu and prawns are among the ingredients too!
Steamed Red Lion Fish with Superior Soya Sauce. No doubt the fish is fresh. But to me, it just normal.
Home Style Whole Chicken with Mushrooms. The chicken is tender, and I like the Enoki mushroom that has been added into this dish. I wish it has more.
Deep Fried Crispy Prawns with Yellow Beans and Mayo. The main reason I like this dish so much is I can eat the prawn directly and no need to peel the shell. In a banquet, it is hard to peel the shell of the prawn by using chopstick (at least for me). Normally I will ask for spoon and fork when it comes to this dish. The prawn is crispy and with the yellow beans and mayo, it will make you to continue eating non stop.
Braised Garden Vegetables with Assorted Mushrooms. Looks familiar but where is the chicken? Just kidding.This is another dish which consists of all vegetables, which I like. The gravy tasted the same as the one from the Chicken.
Wok Fried Rice with Anchovies and Chicken. The fried rice will be very normal if there are no anchovies added.
The crispiness of the Anchovies made the fried rice to become better in taste. Chicken chunks also can be found too.
Ginger Tea with Red Dates & Black Sesame Rice Ball. The ginger taste is not strong enough, I like it to be stronger.
The Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball looks like the one I bought it from the frozen section in the hypermarket.
Everyone of us is given a Mandarin Orange and Ang Pao from the God of Wealth. First Ang Pao for 2016.
GM Mr Wayne and Hong Kong Master Chef Ng Wing Lam. Master Chef Ng has more than 40 years of culinary experience in Hong Kong and Asia. It is my honored to have the chance to meet him up and enjoy the dishes prepared by him and his team.
Master Chef Ng spent some time to chat with us after the dinner.
Overall, this Chinese New Year Yee Sang Banquet is more suitable for the big family with more than 5 to 10 persons. If you are not going with your Family, it can be a Chinese New Year dinner gathering with your friends too! All the 8 dishes served on that night are pretty normal, from the Yee Sang, Soup, Fish, Chicken, Prawns, Vegetables, Rice to Dessert. Dish to keep an eye on will be the Braised Pumpkin Soup with Assorted Seafood and Deep Fried Crispy Prawns with Yellow Beans and Mayo.While most of the hotels are doing the Chinese New Year Buffet, Vistana Hotel remains the Chinese New Year traditional custom by serving the 8 course meal, which I think it will attract many to dine there during the Chinese New Year.
