Yaw’s Roast & Grill

Ever since I met with Criz and Steven during the 2nd Food Blogger Gathering, we have gone out for dinner for several times. Last night was another meet up since Steven was really exciting on the food hunt. As usual, Criz was our food guide. He suggested for the western food in Francis’s Fusion. However, there is no parking place available and the restaurant was crowded with people. We have no choice but to change our destination to Yaw’s Roast & Grill at Gerbang Midlands. I went to this place few years back with my friend. I don’t know about the name until today.

We were consider very lucky to get ourselves a table. The place was crowded as well, due to Saturday night, I assume. According to the owner, the restaurant has closed for 9 days and yesterday was the first day for the reopening. Criz got the menu himself instead of letting the waiter and waitress to serve us.

Criz ordered the Black Pepper Chicken. Steven and his friend ordered Mushroom Soup, Grilled Fish and Chicken Minced (recommended by Criz). While I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu. We waited for quite some time (more than 20 minutes) before we got our food.

Tomato and Chili Sauce.

Garlic Bread.

Black Pepper Chicken came first. Criz asked for additional sauce for us to test out. The Black Pepper sauce was not that spicy if compare to others. I prefer it to have more pepper taste. The presentation was just normal, same as many of the western food restaurant. This dish was not up to Criz’s standard, according to him. It was better when he visited this restaurant last June.

Chicken Minced was the next one to be served. It looks special to me. The minced chicken meat with gravy was surrounded by the mashed potato, made it become a ring.

I tried a bite on this dish and it was really good. However, the mashed potato was a bit salty. I will order this if I happen to dine there next time. Steven was full after eating this dish.

My Chicken Cordon Bleu was coming up next. It was relatively thin and long. Normally, the Chicken Cordon Bleu that I have in other restaurant was fat and short.

The filling was a bit special. It has carrot inside. I was not sure whether ham or sausage was being used for this dish. Normal Chicken Cordon Bleu will only have chicken, ham and cheese. I thought I ate the sausage instead of ham. I asked Criz and he said, if there were sausages inside, it means there was no ham. I have no idea. Overall, Chicken Cordon Bleu was just a normal western food. It will be better if there is more cheese.

The last one to reach was the Grilled Fish. I never tried this dish so I cannot give any comment on it. If you want to know, please ask Steven.

For the price, Black Pepper Chicken was at RM8, Chicken Minced RM9.80, Chicken Cordon Bleu RM9.80 and Grilled Fish RM8.

For more photos on the surrounding, stay tune for Steven’s post. He took quite a number of photos when we just reached.
