Steven called me the other day and asked me whether I am free for a food review in e-Gate. After browsing through my schedule, I am OK with the date. The restaurant that we are going for the review is Miss Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant. I tried a few of the restaurants in e-Gate but I never try this one. We have more than 10 people for the review.

Miss Saigon is going to launch a new menu, a total of 31 dishes in 5 categories: Summer Rolls, Exotic Side, Salads, Rice Noodles and Vietnamese Sandwiches. That is the purpose why most of the food bloggers are invited for the food tasting and reviewing.

The surrounding and ambiance of Miss Saigon was good. I feel comfortable to dine there. However, I was having difficulty while taking for the food photos. The lighting was the main reason, or should I say, improvement is needed for my photography skill.

The cutlery and the menu. Both chopstick and spoon are made of wood. I like them.

Glass of water. The water has a barley taste to me. It seems that I was wrong. I just got a confirmation from Criz, it was the Pandan taste!

Summer Rolls was the first category to be served. They all look alike but the filling and the sauce were different. If you are asking me which is which, I totally cannot give you a correct answer. Summer Rolls consist of 10 items: Traditional Northern Rolls (RM 6.80), Traditional Southern Rolls (RM 7.80), Farmer’s Egg Rolls (RM 6.80), Mini Prawn Paste on Sugarcane (RM 10.80), Crispy Gourmet Seafood Rolls (RM 9.80), Crisp Fried Hanoi Rolls (RM 8.80), Fresh Vegetarian Rolls (RM 5.80), Southern Fish Rolls (RM 7.80), Classic Hor Fun Beef Rolls (RM 10.80) and Classic Hor Fun Chicken Rolls (RM 9.80).

Classic Hor Fun Beef Rolls. I like the Classic Hor Fun Rolls. It’s good. The drawback is, it was too little! One plate is not enough!

Crispy Gourmet Seafood Rolls.

Mini Prawn Paste on Sugarcane. This is a bit special, you can make the roll yourself.

After the Summer Rolls, here comes the Exotic Side. There are 8 dishes on this category: Cinnamon Beef Chunks La-lot (RM 11.80), Grilled Chicken T-shaped Wings (RM 9.80), Wok-fried Flower Chicken (RM 14.80), Wok-fried Flower Beef (RM 14.80), Spiced Grilled Eel Cake (RM 12.80), Villagers Grilled Snail Cake (RM 12.80), Street-style Salty Soft Shell Crab (RM 13.80) and Royal Seafood Skewer (RM 10.80).

Cinnamon Beef Chunks La-lot. I don’t have the chance to taste this, not sure it is good or not.

Grilled Chicken T-shaped Wings. Never try this too. It was too normal to me.

Wok-fried Flower Chicken. Oh, I like this one. It was yummy and the flowers in this dish was very special. It is Nutty Flavored Wild Pergularia. In my opinion, it will be good to serve with rice.

Spiced Grilled Eel Cake or Villagers Grilled Snail Cake. Both are having the same taste. The only difference will be the toughness. Villagers Grilled Snail Cake is a little bit tough when you bite and chew on it. This is the very first time I tasted snail!

Street-style Salty Soft Shell Crab. It’s a bit too salty for this dish. But, the taste was not bad.

Royal Seafood Skewer. This one is just a normal grilled salmon together with mushroom and green pepper. Nothing special.

Coming up next, Salads. Total of 5 salads offered by Miss Saigon: Sour Green Mango Salad (RM 7.80), Miss Saigon Salad (RM 9.80), Gold Glass Noodle Salad (RM 6.80), Crunchy Papaya Salad (RM 7.80) and Jellyfish Salad (RM 8.80). I like the Sour Green Mango Salad. It was just simply delicious!

Rice Noodles were served next. Crunchy Eel Glass Noddle Soup (RM 13.80), Villagers Snail Noodle Soup (RM 13.80), Traditional Southern Beef BÚN (RM 14.80), Traditional Southern Chicken BÚN (RM 12.80), Traditional Vietnamese Chicken PHO (RM 12.80) and Traditional Vietnamese Beef PHO (RM 14.80).

Traditional Southern Chicken BÚN. This is exactly the dry version of Laksa. Not bad.

Finally, Vietnamese Sandwiches.

Frog Curry with Garlic Spiced Baguette (RM 10.80). I never try this. I already scared when I see the garlic.

Vietnamese Street Baguette (Chicken/Beef) (RM 9.80). I managed to try this when we re-ordered. It was just another normal sandwich.

From my point of view, some of the food was OK and some turned out to be a very normal dish. Most of the dishes come in a small portion but the price was in a higher range. Your bill can be easily hit over RM 50 for just ordering few dishes.

It was a very good experience for me to have the chance to go for the food reviewing. Thanks to the boss from Miss Saigon and Steven who invited me.
