Breakfast @ Penang Bayan Baru Old Town Kopitiam

I get to know about the Old Town Kopitiam breakfast from the radio advertisement for quite some time. Every time I listen to the ad, I tell myself I want to give it a try. However, time is not allowed me to do so. Besides, Penang has so many nice hawker food during breakfast, it is hard to decide on what to eat. Few weeks back, I finally decided to bring my mum to have the breakfast at Old Town Kopitiam, Bayan Baru branch. At the same time, I can train my food shooting skill as well, one stone kills two birds. πŸ™‚

I waited for quite some time for the menu but seems like no one is free to entertain me. I have no choice but to raise my hand and asked for the menu. The menu is different from my last visit. It looks new and “shining”.

There are total of 5 breakfast choices:

1. My Toast (RM4.50) – Kaya and Butter Toast (Single), Omega Soft Boiled Eggs and Kopi O or Black Tea (Hot/Cold).
2. My Meehoon (RM3.90) – Meehoon Siam and Kopi O or Black Tea (Hot/Cold).
3. My Nasi (RM 5.50) – Nasi Lemak Classic and Kopi O or Black Tea (Hot/Cold).
4. My Noodle (RM5.50) – Noodle Soup with Egg, Sausage & Vegetables and Kopi O or Black Tea (Hot/Cold).
5. My Western (RM6.50) – Toast, Sausage, Egg, Red Bean and Kopi O or Black Tea (Hot/Cold).

If you don’t like the Kopi O or Black Tea, you can switch your drink by adding additional RM1. There are 3 choices:

1. Old Town White Coffee (Hot/Cold).
2. Fresh Lemon Tea (Hot/Cold).
3. Old Town White Milk Tea (Hot/Cold).

I ordered My Toast and my mum ordered My Meehoon. For the drink, we just stick to Kopi O, without switching to other drinks.

This is our Kopi O (Black Coffee).Β  The Kopi O wasΒ  too bitter without putting the sugar. I need to get the sugar from another table.

Kaya and Butter Toast. This is a MUST order when dine in Old Town Kopitiam. I like it a lot.

img_1166

2 small strips of butter inside the toast. The toast on that day is a bit cold. I prefer it to be warm.

Next, 2 Omega Soft Boiled Egg. It is nice to have it with soya sauce and pepper.

Meehoon Siam. My mum left a bit for me to taste. It is sour and a bit of spiciness, but nice, especially the chili/sambal. At first, I thought Meehoon Siam will come in a small plate, since this breakfast set is the cheapest among all. I was wrong. It comes in quite a big portion.

Overall, it was a good decision to dine at Old Town Kopitiam for breakfast. From as low as RM3.90, you can have a wonderful breakfast, to cheer up your day. The Kaya and Butter Toast was still up to standard. Meehoon Siam was a bit surprise to me. My mum likes it. If you are bored of Penang hawker food, try to have your breakfast at Old Town Kopitiam.

Old Town Kopitiam Breakfast is served until 11am from Monday to Friday. It is not applicable for Weekends and Public Holidays.

  1. Now sitting back and recognising that this was a small but real win in my reading day, and a stop at evanshistorical extended that quiet win, the cumulative effect of small reading wins versus the cumulative effect of small reading losses is real over time and this site is contributing to the wins side of that ledger.

  2. Found a couple of useful angles in here I had not considered before reading carefully, and a quick stop at webpic added more, this is one of those sites where the value compounds the more you read rather than peaking at one viral post and then offering nothing else of substance afterwards which is common.

  3. The depth of coverage felt about right for the format, neither shallow nor overwhelming, and a look at slkmlfds01 kept that calibration going, getting the depth right for blog format is genuinely difficult because too shallow loses experts and too deep loses beginners but this site nailed it nicely which I really do appreciate.

  4. Felt the writer did the homework before publishing, the references hold up, and a look at aspireclub continued that documented care, content with traceable claims rather than vague assertions is the kind I trust and the lack of bald assertion in this post is one of its quietly impressive qualities for me.

  5. Liked how the writer used real examples instead of theoretical ones to make the points stick, and a stop at rubybrookmarketfoundry added even more concrete examples, this is the kind of practical approach that respects readers who actually want to apply what they learn rather than just nodding along passively without doing anything useful.

  7. Came in for one specific question and got answers to three I had not even thought to ask, and a look at hanbo65 extended that bonus value pattern, the kind of resource that anticipates reader needs rather than just answering the literal question asked is the gold standard and this site reaches it.

  8. Adding this site to my regular reading list, the post earned that on its own, and a quick stop at djhocopo sealed the decision, the kind of place worth checking back with from time to time because it consistently produces material that holds up against a critical reading too which I really value.

  9. Thanks for keeping the writing direct without losing the warmth that makes content feel human, and a stop at myzb79 carried both qualities forward, balancing professionalism and personality is a rare skill and the writers here have clearly figured out how to consistently land it across many posts which I notice.

  10. Refreshing change from the usual sites covering this topic, no clickbait and no padding, and a stop at zh-movies confirmed the difference, this place clearly has its own voice rather than copying the formulas everyone else uses to chase clicks online which is becoming increasingly rare these days across nearly every popular subject.

  11. Worth saying that the writing carries a particular kind of authority without making any explicit claims to it, and a stop at actionframework extended that earned authority feeling, sites that demonstrate expertise through the quality of their explanations rather than by stating credentials are sites I trust most and this site has it.

  12. Liked the careful selection of which details to include and which to skip, and a stop at cp38l reflected the same editorial judgement, knowing what to leave out is just as important as knowing what to include and this site has clearly figured out where that line sits for the topics it covers regularly.

  13. Now planning to share the link with a small group of readers I trust, and a look at sgeff0 suggested more material to share with the same group, recommending content into a curated circle requires confidence in the recommendation and this site is making me confident in those personal recommendations on multiple separate occasions now.

  14. Looking at this from the perspective of someone tired of generic content the contrast is striking, and a look at visiontrajectory maintained that distinctive feel, sites with strong editorial identity stand out against the bland background of algorithmic content and this one has clearly developed an identity worth recognising through careful attention.

  15. Reading carefully here has reminded me what reading carefully feels like, and a look at pujckapropodnikatele extended that reminder, the experience of careful reading versus skimming is different in ways I had partially forgotten and this site has clearly refreshed my memory of what attention feels like when content rewards it consistently.
