BTB & Restaurant @ China House, Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang

It has been a while since I last visited China House. Last 2 weeks, I have the chance to go again and try out the BTB & Restaurant’s Entree and Mains. China House is located at the Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang. It is very near to those mural paintings area.

chinahouse 01It is a long hallway.

Beach Street Bakery. Different types of cakes! A lot of varieties and I am sure you will find the one you like!

Drinks.

chinahouse 04

Entree

Pumpkin and Apple Soup – with Candied Pumpkin Seeds and Parmesan Biscotti. I have a little surprise on this soup. It has a spiciness at the end, which I’ve never expected.

chinahouse 05

Mezze Vegetarian – Pomegranate Dip, Harrisa, Red Pepper Chutney, Fresh Green Relish, Corn and Parmesan Salsa, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal, Yoghurt, Dukkah, Lemon Rocket Salad, served with Pita and Focaccia. It is a big plate, full of stuffs. Total of 8 different types of small dips for you to eat with the Pita and Focaccia. I am already full just by looking at it.

chinahouse 06

Grilled Haloumi – on Avocado, Cashew Nut Salad with Pomegranate Dressing, Parmesan Biscotti, Grapes, Cranberries and Rocket. I like this Grilled Holoumi Salad. It’s good especially with the Pomegranate Dressing. It is quite healthy too with all the greens and fruits. Recommended!

chinahouse 07

Salt Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken Strips – on a Watercress, Peanuts, Corn, Cherry Tomato, Green Mango, Coriander Salad with Spicy Peanut Dip. I can eat this one non stop, by dipping the spicy peanut dip. Yum!

chinahouse 08

Deep Fried Tiny Prawns – on a Mango and Avocado Salad with Pistachio and Basil Dressing. It is similar to those snack that we can order from a Japanese restaurant, just that it never has the Mango and Avocado Salad, if compare to this one. It is very tempting and you can just eat and finish them without your notice.

chinahouse 09

Mains

Chicken and Mushroom Pie – with Baked Sweet Potato, Mash Potato, Broccoli and Tomato Relish. The broccoli and the baked sweet potato are a bit dry for my liking. The pie is good though.

chinahouse 10

Hokkien Spaghetti Bolognese – with Minced Chicken served with Cucumber Ribbons, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal and Caramelised Peanuts. First time I saw a spaghetti is served in a bowl instead of a plate. It will be hard for me if I want to mix the Mince Chicken with the spaghetti together.

chinahouse 11

Seared Fillet of Beef (200 grams) – with Parsnip Skordalia and Mushrooms, Roast Pumpkin and Duo of Sauces, Spicy Peanut Sauce and Balsamic Sauce. The same spicy peanut sauce (the dip for Salt Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken Strips) is being used for the beef as well.

chinahouse 12

chinahouse 13

Rack of Lamb – with Dukkah Pumpkin, Eggplant, Chimichurri Pesto and Cauliflower Gratin on the side. The lamb is OK to me (I am not a lamb lover so I cannot comment much on this). The Cauliflower Gratin was way too cheesy, perfect for cheese lovers.

chinahouse 14

chinahouse 15

Asian Platter – Loas Chicken and Pumpkin Curry, Coconut Beef Rendang, Sweet Basil Mango Salad, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal, Caramelised Peanut Relish, Chicken Larb in Iceberg Cup, Coconut Rice and Crackers. Another big plate presentation with lots of stuffs!! The Coconut Beef Rendang and Loas Chicken and Pumpkin Curry was good. The spiciness were average, which is good to those who cannot really eat spicy. You will be so full to finish this all by yourself.

chinahouse 16

Desserts.

chinahouse 17

From the top (anti clockwise): Chocoholic Chocolate, Banana Mocha Frosting, Carrot Walnut, Salted Caramel Cheese Cake, Tiramisu and Passion Fruit Coconut Butter.

chinahouse 18

Overall, I like the all the 5 Entrees. But if really need to pick one or two, my choices will be the Grilled Haloumi and Mezze Vegetarian. For Mains, Hokkien Spaghetti Bolognese and Asian Platter will be my pick. For desserts, I don’t think I need to say much. They are good especially the Tiramisu and Salted Caramel Cheese Cake. The size of the cake is huge and it is selling at a reasonable price, in a range of RM10.60 to RM15.90. For cakes lovers, you need or should I say, you MUST go to China House to check out their cakes! You will never regret after all.

  1. Picked this site to mention to a colleague who would benefit, and a look at frostharvestgoods added more material I will pass along, recommending sites to colleagues is a higher bar than recommending to friends because the professional context demands more careful curation and this site cleared the professional bar without me having to think.

  2. Probably the kind of site that should be more widely read than it appears to be, and a look at vibrantcartcorner reinforced that quiet wish, the gap between a sites quality and its apparent reach is sometimes large and that gap exists for this site in a way that makes me want to mention it more.

  3. High quality writing, no marketing speak and no buzzwords that mean nothing, and a stop at trendycartcenter kept that going, simple direct content that actually communicates something is harder to find than it should be and this is one of the rare places that gets it right consistently across many different posts.

  4. Bookmark added with a small mental note that this is a site to keep, and a look at nextgenbuyhub reinforced the keep status, the verb keep rather than visit captures something about how I think about this kind of site and it is a higher tier of relationship than I have with most places online today.

  5. Sets a higher bar than most of what shows up in search results for this topic, and a look at radiantmaplestore did not lower that bar at all, in fact it confirmed the impression, this is the kind of consistency that earns a place in regular rotation for serious readers instead of casual scrollers passing through.

  6. The whole experience of reading this was pleasant from start to finish, no pop ups and no annoying interruptions, and a look at amberpetalcollective continued that clean experience, technical choices about page design matter for the reader and this site clearly cares about the small details that add up to comfort across multiple visits.

  8. Thanks for taking the time to write this, it is clear that some thought went into how each point would land, and after I went through royalcartcorner I had a better grip on the topic, real value without the usual marketing noise people have to put up with online when searching for answers.

  9. Decided to subscribe to the RSS feed if there is one, and a stop at crystalfernstore confirmed that decision, content that I want delivered to me proactively rather than just remembered when I have time is content that has earned a higher level of commitment from me as a reader looking for reliable sources.

  10. The examples really helped me grasp the points faster than abstract descriptions would have, and a stop at frostharbormarket added a few more practical illustrations that drove the message home, the kind of writing that knows its readers learn better through concrete situations rather than vague generalities is rare and worth recognising clearly.

  11. Considered alongside other sources I have been reading this one consistently rises to the top, and a stop at echopetalbazaar maintained that top ranking, the informal ongoing comparison between sources is something I do whenever reading on a topic and this site keeps coming out near the top of those comparisons over many sessions.

  12. Honestly impressed by how much useful content sits in such a small post, and a stop at qualitycartarena confirmed the rest of the site packs a similar punch, density without confusion is a hard balance to strike and this site has clearly cracked the code on it across many different topic areas covered.

  13. A piece that exhibited the kind of patience that good writing requires, and a look at frostlaneemporium continued that patient quality, hurried writing is easy to spot and this site reads as having been written without time pressure which produces a different feel than the rushed content that dominates much of the modern blog space.

  14. Decided to read this site for a while before forming a verdict, and the verdict after several pages is positive, and a stop at mysticmeadowgoods continued that pattern, judging a site requires more than one post and giving sites a fair sample is something I try to do for promising candidates rather than rushing to dismiss.

  15. Closed several other tabs to focus on this one as I read, and a stop at quickcartworld held my undivided attention the same way, content that earns full focus in an attention environment full of competing pulls is content doing something genuinely well and the team behind it deserves recognition for that achievement consistently.

  16. During my morning reading slot this fit perfectly into the routine, and a look at stylishgoodscorner extended that perfect fit into the rest of the routine, content that matches the rhythm of how I actually read rather than demanding accommodation from my schedule is content well calibrated to its likely audience and this site has it.

  17. Honestly this was the highlight of my reading queue today, and a look at bluecrestemporium extended that across more pages I will return to, ranking what I read against what else I read each day is something I do informally and this site keeps moving up in those rankings the more I explore it.

  18. Now considering carefully how to share this site with the right audience rather than broadcasting widely, and a look at sunwovenmarket extended that careful sharing impulse, content worth sharing carefully rather than spamming is content that has earned a higher kind of recommendation and this site has earned that careful shareability throughout pieces.

  19. In the middle of an otherwise scattered day this post landed as a moment of focus, and a stop at hyperdealhub extended that focused feeling across more pages, content that anchors a fragmented day rather than contributing to the fragmentation is content with real centring effect and this site is providing that anchoring function for me.

  20. Now feeling slightly more committed to my own careful reading practices having read this, and a stop at goldenharvestlane reinforced that commitment, content that models the kind of attention it deserves is content that calibrates the reader and this site has clearly raised my own bar for what to bring to good writing today.

  21. A clear cut above the usual noise on the subject, and a look at urbancartzone only made that gap wider in my view, the kind of place that earns its visitors through quality rather than through aggressive marketing or sponsored placements which is increasingly the only way most sites stay afloat across the modern web.

  22. Coming back tomorrow when I can give this a proper read, the post deserves better attention than I can give right now, and a look at blossombaygoods suggests there is plenty more here that deserves the same treatment, definitely a site I will be exploring properly over the next few days when I can.

  23. Took a chance on the headline and was rewarded, and a stop at infinitygoodscorner kept the rewards coming as I clicked through, the kind of place where every link leads somewhere worth the click is a small luxury on the modern web where so many sites are mostly empty calories disguised as content.

  24. Solid quality, the kind of work that holds up to a careful read rather than a quick skim, and a quick look at crystalharborgoods kept that standard going strong, content that rewards attention rather than punishing it is something I appreciate more and more these days online across nearly every topic I follow.

  25. Definitely returning here, that is decided, and a look at stylishtrendhub only made the case stronger, this is one of those rare websites that rewards regular visits rather than feeling stale after the first read which is something I cannot say about most of the places I bookmark today across all my topics.

  26. Reading this with my morning coffee turned into reading the related posts with my morning coffee, and a stop at goldenpetalmarket stretched the morning further, content that pulls breakfast into a reading session rather than just accompanying it is content that has earned a higher claim on my attention than the average article does.

  27. Felt like the writer was speaking directly to someone with my level of curiosity, neither talking down nor showing off, and a stop at globalgoodscorner kept that comfortable matching going, finding writing that meets you where you are rather than asking you to climb up or stoop down feels great every time it happens.

  28. Worth marking this site as one to come back to deliberately rather than by accident, and a stop at mysticbaystore reinforced that intention, the difference between sites I find again by chance and sites I return to on purpose is meaningful and this one has clearly moved into the deliberate return category for me.

  29. Approaching this with the usual skepticism I bring to new sites and being slowly persuaded, and a stop at velvettrailbazaar continued that gradual persuasion, the careful path from skeptical reader to genuine fan is the only one I trust and this site has walked me along that path through patient consistent quality across pieces.

  30. Speaking from the perspective of a fairly demanding reader the writing here clears the bar consistently, and a look at radiantcovecollective continued clearing that bar, the calibration of demanding reader is something I apply to all sources and this site has been one of the few that handles the demanding reading well across pieces sampled.

  31. A piece that did not require external context to follow, and a look at cloudpetalmarket maintained the same self contained quality, content that stands alone without forcing readers to chase prerequisites is more accessible and this site has clearly thought about how each piece can serve a fresh visitor rather than only existing members.

  32. Skipped a meeting reminder to finish the post, and a stop at freshdealstation held me past another reminder, when content beats meetings the writer is doing something extraordinary because meetings have institutional support behind them and yet good writing can still occasionally win that competition for attention which I find heartening today.

  33. Thanks for sharing this with the open internet rather than locking it behind a paywall like so many sites do now, and a stop at frostdunemarket kept the same vibe going, generous helpful and clearly written by someone who actually wants people to learn from it rather than just charge them.

  34. Genuine reaction is that I will probably think about this on and off for a few days, and a look at stylishgoodsarena added fuel to that, the best content lingers in your head after you close the tab rather than evaporating immediately and this site clearly knows how to write that kind of memorable content.

  35. Picked a single sentence from this post to remember, and a look at cloudlaneessentials gave me another to keep, content that produces memorable lines is doing more than just transferring information and the small selection of sentences I keep from each reading session is one of the actual returns I get from reading carefully.

  36. Good post, the kind that respects the reader by getting to the point quickly without skipping the details that matter, and a short look at glowforgeessentials confirmed that approach is consistent across the site which is rare to find online these days, definitely a place I will return to soon.

  37. A handful of memorable phrases from this one I will probably use later, and a look at buyloopshop added a couple more, content that contributes language to my own communication rather than just facts is content with a different kind of utility and this site is providing that linguistic utility consistently across what I read.

  38. Found this through a friend who recommended it and now I see why, and a look at velvetharborgoods only strengthened that recommendation in my own mind, word of mouth still works for content that actually delivers and this site is clearly earning recommendations the old fashioned way through quality rather than marketing.

  39. Genuinely good work, the kind that holds up over multiple readings without losing its appeal, and a stop at swifttrendhub kept that going, definitely a site I will be returning to and probably mentioning to others who work in or care about this particular area of interest today and in coming weeks.

  41. Reading this with a notebook open turned out to be the right move, and a stop at trustedbuyerszone added more material to the notes, content that justifies active note taking from a passive reader is content with real informational density and this site is producing notes worthy material at a high rate consistently.

  42. A memorable post for me on a topic I had thought I was tired of, and a look at silverhorizonstore suggested the same site can refresh other tired topics, sites that can revive my interest in subjects I had written off as exhausted are doing rare work and this one is clearly doing that for me today.

  43. Honest take is that I will probably forget most of what I read online today but this post is one I will remember, and a stop at freshcartcorner kept that same memorable quality going, certain writing leaves a residue in the mind in a way most content simply does not manage.

  44. A piece that prompted a small mental rearrangement of how I order related ideas, and a look at premiumpickzone extended that rearranging effect, content that affects the structure of my thinking rather than just adding to it is content with the deepest kind of impact and this site is reaching that depth for me today.
