BTB & Restaurant @ China House, Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang

It has been a while since I last visited China House. Last 2 weeks, I have the chance to go again and try out the BTB & Restaurant’s Entree and Mains. China House is located at the Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang. It is very near to those mural paintings area.

chinahouse 01It is a long hallway.

Beach Street Bakery. Different types of cakes! A lot of varieties and I am sure you will find the one you like!

Drinks.

chinahouse 04

Entree

Pumpkin and Apple Soup – with Candied Pumpkin Seeds and Parmesan Biscotti. I have a little surprise on this soup. It has a spiciness at the end, which I’ve never expected.

chinahouse 05

Mezze Vegetarian – Pomegranate Dip, Harrisa, Red Pepper Chutney, Fresh Green Relish, Corn and Parmesan Salsa, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal, Yoghurt, Dukkah, Lemon Rocket Salad, served with Pita and Focaccia. It is a big plate, full of stuffs. Total of 8 different types of small dips for you to eat with the Pita and Focaccia. I am already full just by looking at it.

chinahouse 06

Grilled Haloumi – on Avocado, Cashew Nut Salad with Pomegranate Dressing, Parmesan Biscotti, Grapes, Cranberries and Rocket. I like this Grilled Holoumi Salad. It’s good especially with the Pomegranate Dressing. It is quite healthy too with all the greens and fruits. Recommended!

chinahouse 07

Salt Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken Strips – on a Watercress, Peanuts, Corn, Cherry Tomato, Green Mango, Coriander Salad with Spicy Peanut Dip. I can eat this one non stop, by dipping the spicy peanut dip. Yum!

chinahouse 08

Deep Fried Tiny Prawns – on a Mango and Avocado Salad with Pistachio and Basil Dressing. It is similar to those snack that we can order from a Japanese restaurant, just that it never has the Mango and Avocado Salad, if compare to this one. It is very tempting and you can just eat and finish them without your notice.

chinahouse 09

Mains

Chicken and Mushroom Pie – with Baked Sweet Potato, Mash Potato, Broccoli and Tomato Relish. The broccoli and the baked sweet potato are a bit dry for my liking. The pie is good though.

chinahouse 10

Hokkien Spaghetti Bolognese – with Minced Chicken served with Cucumber Ribbons, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal and Caramelised Peanuts. First time I saw a spaghetti is served in a bowl instead of a plate. It will be hard for me if I want to mix the Mince Chicken with the spaghetti together.

chinahouse 11

Seared Fillet of Beef (200 grams) – with Parsnip Skordalia and Mushrooms, Roast Pumpkin and Duo of Sauces, Spicy Peanut Sauce and Balsamic Sauce. The same spicy peanut sauce (the dip for Salt Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken Strips) is being used for the beef as well.

chinahouse 12

chinahouse 13

Rack of Lamb – with Dukkah Pumpkin, Eggplant, Chimichurri Pesto and Cauliflower Gratin on the side. The lamb is OK to me (I am not a lamb lover so I cannot comment much on this). The Cauliflower Gratin was way too cheesy, perfect for cheese lovers.

chinahouse 14

chinahouse 15

Asian Platter – Loas Chicken and Pumpkin Curry, Coconut Beef Rendang, Sweet Basil Mango Salad, Eggplant, Ginger Bud Sambal, Caramelised Peanut Relish, Chicken Larb in Iceberg Cup, Coconut Rice and Crackers. Another big plate presentation with lots of stuffs!! The Coconut Beef Rendang and Loas Chicken and Pumpkin Curry was good. The spiciness were average, which is good to those who cannot really eat spicy. You will be so full to finish this all by yourself.

chinahouse 16

Desserts.

chinahouse 17

From the top (anti clockwise): Chocoholic Chocolate, Banana Mocha Frosting, Carrot Walnut, Salted Caramel Cheese CakeTiramisu and Passion Fruit Coconut Butter.

Overall, I like the all the 5 Entrees. But if really need to pick one or two, my choices will be the Grilled Haloumi and Mezze Vegetarian. For Mains, Hokkien Spaghetti Bolognese and Asian Platter will be my pick. For desserts, I don’t think I need to say much. They are good especially the Tiramisu and Salted Caramel Cheese Cake. The size of the cake is huge and it is selling at a reasonable price, in a range of RM10.60 to RM15.90. For cakes lovers, you need or should I say, you MUST go to China House to check out their cakes! You will never regret after all.

  1. Picked this up between two other things I was doing and got drawn in completely, and after etherfairs my original tasks were completely forgotten for a while, content that derails a workflow in a positive way by being more interesting than what you were already doing is rare and worth recognising clearly.

  2. Reading this on a difficult day was a small bright spot, and a stop at usadisease extended that brightness, content that improves a hard day is content that has earned a particular kind of place in my reading habits and this site is occupying that uplifting role for me today which I appreciate clearly.

  3. The post made the topic feel approachable without making it feel trivial, that is a fine balance, and a stop at spjugt maintained the same balance, finding the middle ground between welcoming and serious is genuinely difficult and the writers here have clearly figured out how to consistently hit it well across many different posts.

  4. Liked the balance between depth and brevity, never too shallow and never too long, and a stop at flickaltars kept the same balance going across the rest of the site, this is one of the harder skills in writing and the team here clearly has it figured out very well indeed across every page.

  5. Quiet confidence runs through the whole post, no need to shout to make the points stick, and a stop at detskazidleastul carried that same restrained voice forward, content that respects the reader by trusting its own substance rather than dressing it up in theatrical language is what I look for online and rarely actually find these days.

  6. Quality writing that respects the reader’s intelligence without overloading them, and a quick look at 2b008099 reflected that approach, a balanced thoughtful site that earns trust by being consistent rather than by shouting about how trustworthy it is which is the usual approach online sadly across most content categories.

  7. Bookmark added in three places to make sure I do not lose the link, and a look at jaspermeadowtradehouse got the same redundant treatment, sites I am afraid to lose are the rare keepers and this is clearly one of them based on what I have read so far across this and a couple of related posts.

  8. Top tier post, the kind that makes you want to share the link with friends working in the same area, and a stop at flaxdune only made me more confident in doing that, this site is one of the better resources I have seen on the topic recently across both new and older posts.

  9. In the middle of an otherwise scattered day this post landed as a moment of focus, and a stop at focusignition extended that focused feeling across more pages, content that anchors a fragmented day rather than contributing to the fragmentation is content with real centring effect and this site is providing that anchoring function for me.

  10. Appreciate the thoughtful approach, the writer clearly took time to make this readable for someone who is not already an expert, and a look at batdeu kept that going nicely, easy on the eyes and easy on the brain which is always a winning combination when reading on a busy day.

  11. Took longer than expected to finish because I kept stopping to think, and a stop at clubmana did the same to me, content that provokes thought rather than just delivering information is in a different category and the team here is clearly working at that higher level rather than just cranking out posts.

  12. Learned something from this without having to dig through layers of fluff, and a stop at willielambert added a bit more context that helped tie things together for me, definitely a useful corner of the internet for anyone who wants real information without the usual marketing nonsense around it that often ruins similar pages.

  13. Now adjusting my mental list of reliable sites for this topic, and a stop at webpic reinforced the adjustment, the small ongoing curation work of maintaining trusted sources is one of the actual practical activities of careful reading and this site has earned a permanent place on my list for this particular subject.

  14. Liked the way the post balanced confidence and humility, and a stop at clubmana maintained the same balance, knowing when to assert and when to acknowledge uncertainty is a sign of mature thinking and the writers here have clearly developed that calibration through what I assume is years of careful work on their craft.

  15. Just want to recognise that someone clearly cared about how this turned out, and a look at batdeu confirmed that care extends across the broader site, you can feel the difference between content shipped to hit a deadline and content released because the writer was actually proud of the result for once.

  16. Reading this in a quiet hour and finding it suited the quiet, and a stop at aspireclub extended the quiet reading mood, content that matches its own optimal reading conditions rather than fighting them is content that has been thoughtfully calibrated and this site reads as having a particular reading mood in mind throughout.

  17. Now thinking about whether the writer might publish a longer form work I would buy, and a look at slkmlfds01 suggested the same depth would translate, content that makes me want to pay for related work in other formats is content that has earned commercial trust as well as attention trust and this site has both clearly.

  18. Reading this gave me something to think about for the rest of the afternoon, and after rubybrookmarketfoundry I had even more to mull over, the kind of post that lingers in the background of your day rather than evaporating immediately is genuinely valuable in an attention economy that punishes depth rather than rewarding it.

  19. A piece that did not lecture even when it had clear positions, and a look at flaxdune maintained the same teaching without preaching tone, finding the line between informing and lecturing is hard and most sites land on the wrong side of it but this one has clearly figured out how to inform without becoming preachy.

  20. Picked something concrete from the post that I will use immediately, and a look at willielambert added another concrete piece, content that produces immediately useful output rather than just abstract appreciation is content that earns its place in my regular rotation without needing any further evaluation from me at this point honestly.

  21. Closed my email tab so I could read this without interruption, and a stop at webpic earned the same protected attention, when content is good enough to defend against the usual digital distractions you know it deserves better than the half attention most online reading gets in a typical busy day.

  22. Reading this in three sittings because the day was fragmented, and the piece survived the fragmentation, and a stop at hanbo65 held up under similar reading conditions, content engineered for continuous attention is fragile in modern conditions and this site reads as durable across the realistic ways people consume content today.

  23. Читатели получат представление о том, как современные технологии влияют на развитие медицины. Обсуждаются новые методы лечения, персонализированный подход и роль цифровых решений в повышении качества медицинских услуг.

  24. Comfortable reading experience throughout, no jarring tone shifts and no awkward formatting, and a look at rubybrookmarketfoundry kept that smooth feel going, the kind of editorial polish that goes unnoticed when present but glaring when absent is something this site has clearly invested in across the broader content as well which deserves recognition.

  25. Now feeling the small relief of finding writing that does not condescend, and a stop at aspireclub extended that respect for readers, content that treats its audience as capable adults rather than as people to be managed produces a different reading experience and this site has clearly chosen the respectful approach across all pieces.

  26. Just sat back at the end of the post and felt grateful that someone took the time to write it, and a look at djhocopo extended that gratitude across more of the site, recognising effort behind quality work is part of what makes the open web a community rather than just a marketplace today.

  27. Walked away with a clearer head than I had before reading this, and a quick visit to slkmlfds01 only sharpened that, the writing has a way of cutting through the noise that surrounds most topics online which is something I will definitely remember the next time I am searching for an answer to anything.

  28. Took a chance on the headline and was rewarded, and a stop at zh-movies kept the rewards coming as I clicked through, the kind of place where every link leads somewhere worth the click is a small luxury on the modern web where so many sites are mostly empty calories disguised as content.

  29. More original than the recycled takes I keep finding on the topic elsewhere, and a quick look at evanshistorical confirmed it, the kind of site that has its own voice rather than echoing whatever is trending which makes it stand out as a refreshing change from the usual rotation of generic content I see daily.

  30. Glad I gave this a chance rather than scrolling past, and a stop at hanbo65 confirmed I made the right call, sometimes the best content is hidden behind unassuming headlines that do not scream for attention and learning to slow down and check those out has paid off many times now across years of reading.

  31. Honestly informative, the writer covers the ground without showing off, and a look at myzb79 reflected the same humility, content that respects the reader rather than trying to dazzle them is something I always appreciate and rarely come across in this corner of the internet today across the topics I usually read.

  32. Time spent here today felt productive in the way that good reading sessions sometimes do, and a stop at djhocopo extended that productive feeling across the rest of the morning, the difference between productive reading and merely passing time is real and this site is consistently on the productive side for me lately.

  33. Liked the careful selection of which details to include and which to skip, and a stop at cp38l reflected the same editorial judgement, knowing what to leave out is just as important as knowing what to include and this site has clearly figured out where that line sits for the topics it covers regularly.

  34. Closed it feeling slightly more competent in the topic than I started, and a stop at zh-movies reinforced that competence boost, real learning is rare in casual online reading but it does happen sometimes and this site managed to make it happen for me today which is genuinely worth pausing to acknowledge.

  36. Genuine pleasure to read, and that is not something I say often after a casual click through, and a quick visit to adverbsa kept the same feeling going across the rest of the site, finding writing that actually feels good to spend time with rather than just functional is increasingly rare on the open web.

  37. Probably this is one of the better quiet successes on the open web at the moment, and a look at jualpurehopeoil reinforced that quiet success quality, sites that are doing well without making a noise about doing well are the sites I most respect and this one has clearly chosen the quiet success path consistently throughout.

  38. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a sensible take on this topic without the usual marketing nonsense, and a look at beaconaster kept that grounded approach going, sites that stay focused on serving readers rather than monetising every click are rare and this is clearly one of those rare ones I really appreciate finding.

  39. Took some notes for a project I am working on, and a stop at oliveorchardgoodsroom added more raw material to those notes, content that contributes to my own creative work rather than just being interesting in the moment is the kind I value most and the kind I will keep coming back to repeatedly.

  40. Now noticing the post fit a particular gap in my reading without my having articulated the gap before, and a look at kldjfb extended that gap filling effect, content that meets needs I had not consciously formulated is content with reader insight and this site has clearly developed that anticipatory editorial sense across many pieces.

  41. Liked the balance between depth and brevity, never too shallow and never too long, and a stop at shebra kept the same balance going across the rest of the site, this is one of the harder skills in writing and the team here clearly has it figured out very well indeed across every page.

  42. Now feeling the post has earned a proper recommendation rather than a casual mention, and a stop at growwithclearintent reinforced the recommendation strength, the difference between mentioning and recommending is a small editorial distinction I observe in my own conversations and this site has earned the upgraded recommendation level from me confidently today.

  43. Really appreciate that the writer did not stretch the post to hit some target word count, the points end when they are made, and a stop at chabang reflected the same discipline, brevity is generosity in disguise and this site has clearly figured that out far better than most blog operations have.

  44. Reading this between meetings turned out to be the most useful thing I did all afternoon, and a stop at baaga kept that productivity feeling going, content can sometimes outperform actual work in terms of what gets accomplished mentally and this site managed that today which is genuinely a high bar to clear consistently.

  45. Honestly impressed, did not expect to find this level of care on the topic, and a stop at 2b06260 cemented the impression, you can tell within the first few paragraphs whether a site is going to be worth the time and this one delivered on that early promise nicely throughout the rest of what I read.

  46. Taking the time to read carefully here has been worthwhile for the past hour, and a look at livechatslotasiabet extended the worthwhile reading, the calculation of return on reading time spent is something I do informally and this site has been producing positive returns across multiple sessions during the last week of regular visits and reads.

  47. Appreciated how the post felt complete without overstaying its welcome, and a stop at beaconcopper confirmed that economical approach runs across the site, knowing when to stop is a skill many writers never develop but here the discipline is obvious and welcome from the perspective of a busy reader trying to learn things efficiently.

  48. Reading this confirmed that the topic deserves more careful attention than it usually gets, and a stop at businessfri extended that elevated framing, content that raises the appropriate weight of a subject without being preachy about it is serving a quiet but important editorial function for the broader cultural conversation about it.
