I want to try out the dessert from Sugar Dynasty for a long time. There is an steamboat restaurant nearby. Every time I went for the steamboat, I will tell myself that I wanted to try out the dessert after my meal. However, every time I don’t have the chance to go. You know why? Because after the meal from steamboat restaurant, my stomach was fully occupied. There was no more space to fit in any dessert. Too bad!
My first time visit to the Sugar Dynasty Food Delight was during the Raya holiday last year. It was at night time after my dinner. I was accompanied by one of my friend. Before entering, you can see a poster on the left of the entrance, showing that: for Friday to Sunday, 10% discount will be given to the desserts.
We have no idea on what to order, so we asked for recommendation. The lady boss (I assume she is) recommended us the Water Chestnut with Egg and Sweet Potato Tang Yuan.
The Water Chestnut with Egg was totally not nice at all. It was tasteless. I have no idea why the boss recommended this to us. My friend helped to finish up the whole bowl in the end.
Luckily, the Sweet Potato Tang Yuan helped to bring back our confidence. The Tang Yuan is very good. You can taste the potato taste when you bite on it. I wish to have another bowl but our stomach was almost full. My friend suggested to order another dessert rather than having the same one.
After browsing through the menu for one more time, we decided to have the Fried Man Tou with honey. This was another good choice. I just love the Fried Man Tou. The honey was a bit too sweet but I just cannot control myself from eating it. Besides, the honey made the Man Tou to become shiny when served.
I forgot how much I spent for these three desserts. Overall, I was happy with it except for the Water Chestnut with Egg.
I visited Sugar Dynasty Food Delight for the second time during September this year. It was almost a year after my first visit. This time, I went there in the afternoon. I tried to search the discount banner before entering but I cannot find any. There is no discount anymore.
From side view. Sugar Dynasty Food Delight was located at the corner, opposite the Continental Bakery.
I took this photo in the middle of the road. The road sign was clearly shown in the photo.
The menu is exactly the same as the one during my first visit. I think they never changed it since they opened.
My brother ordered Black Congee with Longan. No idea on what is that? If I tell you, it was actually the “Bee Ko Moi”, I think you all will have the expression, OH………. :O
I never taste it since I can always have it anytime I want. From the outlook, it seems not bad. Most of the dessert stall elsewhere will have this dessert but without the Longan. The coconut milk or so call Santan is the best add on for “Bee Ko Moi”. If my mum cooked it at home, I will put a lot of the coconut milk into it. Before served, a little bit of salt will be added into the coconut milk, to make the overall taste to become better: sweetness + salty.
I saw the Mango Sago in the menu and ordered immediately. I like mango. I am not going to miss the chance to try out the mango dessert. 🙂 However, the Mango Sago did not meet my expectation. The Mango looked not really fresh and I didn’t seem to bite any of the sago. I even asked my brother, where is the sago. Eventually, all the sago were hidden at the bottom. If it was serve with more fresh mango, I will give them thumbs up. But not for this time, improvement is needed.
I ordered the Sweet Potato Tang Yuan during my first visit. This time, I chose another version of the Sweet Potato Tang Yuan. It was a dried version. This was actually a different version of Muar Chee.
Again, this Sweet Potato Tang Yuan was the best among all desserts that we have ordered.
Desserts from the menu
If you happen to pass by that area, go to Sugar Dynasty and try out their Sweet Potato Tang Yuan. It is only my recommendation since different people will have difference taste. Maybe you will not like it. Who knows. 😉

LOL! I can’t help but crack up at the claims on the menu–“Low Calories!” & “Beautify Complexion!”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dessert cafe claim that their dishes are low in calories. Unless they use sugar substitutes like Splenda, Equal or Nutra-sweet, I doubt the calorie count of their dishes would differ much from the street-side dessert stand, although the calorie count of a cup of Cheng Teng would be lower than a cup of ice-cream.
My cousin would religiously consume a bowl of tau huay every morning with a tomato, and told me that it helps with her complexion. She’s got great skin but I still think it’s genetics.
Yes yes, this is a nice place for desserts:)
I love their desserts too….but I’m not a fan of tong yuan, gives me gastric problems:(
Hahaha…you took that pic in the middle of the road…no one gave you the weird look?:D
The dried version of potato tong yuan looks good. Would like to try it out.
I tried the bee ko moi before but didn’t really like it, maybe it’s due to the redundant santan they put in.
Grrr… i must make a trip there already….
But parking is a problem isn’t it??
mimid3vils,
Yes, pour on top. The price consider OK. You can try them out one day if you have the chance.
Kikey,
I like desserts! But the above one, I have someone to help me out mar. I didn’t eat all of them!
CK,
You should try out the Sweet Potato Tang Yuan. Really nice!
Bentoist,
LOL. You are right! Tau Hua with tomato in the morning? Hmmmm, really works?
Christy,
Oh no…. You will have gastric if eat tang yuan? Too bad. I wait until there is no car only I took. Whether got people see or not, I don’t care la! As long as I got my photo taken! 🙂
allie,
If you like muar chee, definitely the dried version of Sweet Potato Tang Yuan will be your choice.
Ah Shui,
Agree with you! The bowl is small la!!! NExt time you can try out the dried version. 🙂
New Kid,
Of coz you must go there to try out. For parking wise, still OK for me. I always lucky to get some parking lot. Maybe you need to walk a bit. If not, you also can park inside the New World Park.
wow… you had ordered a lot of tong sui …. make me drooling….
hee hee….
Penang Tua Pui,
Where got a lot? only 3 during the first visit and another 3 during the second visit. Drooling? Go there and order some! Hahaha.
alooi, before this I think Penang Tua Pui had been there before. Just last week only. Anyway, the name on sugar dynasty sound sweet to me but I heard criz said it is actually low in sugar and healthy as well. How the rating there? RM2.50 for a bowl of tang yuan is quite reasonable.
tried this few yrs ago. that time, this shop was not that popular with the crowd.
i like their ginger milk. soothing.
dang, it used to be quite difficult to find a restaurant that specializes in dessert. I WANT!
Wah the mango sago so damn CHEAP !!!!! In KL if no RM8 don’t ever think of having one.
Just the right dessert that I will drop by this december!
i’ve tried the sweet potato tang yuan before and i agree its nice! didn’t blog abt it though cos i ta pao some of the desserts for my colleagues. havent been to this place in a looooong time even though i always go to continental bakery! lol
Steven,
Actually not only Penang Tua Pui, many people have gone there. I saw PTP post that is why I postponed mine. Don’t want to have it on the same date. You know la…… Rating wise, not bad. You can have a try.
J2Kfm,
I never try the ginger milk. There will always be a next time. 🙂
vkeong,
Just come over to PG island and you can get it!
Ken,
You can have 2 bowl then. Hehehe.
Big Boys Oven,
Oh, you coming again this December? Remember to give it a try when you are here.
Lingzie,
Then you should go eat on the spot, take some photos and post about it! 🙂

Now adding a small note in my reading log that this site is one to watch, and a look at linkbeacon reinforced the watch status, the few sites I track deliberately rather than encounter accidentally are sites I expect ongoing returns from and this one has cleared the bar for that elevated tracking based on what I read.
Adding this site to my regular reading list, the post earned that on its own, and a quick stop at prismoakcollective sealed the decision, the kind of place worth checking back with from time to time because it consistently produces material that holds up against a critical reading too which I really value.
A piece that demonstrated competence without performing it, and a look at driftorchardvendorparlor maintained the same self assured but unshowy register, the gap between competence and performance of competence is one I track and this site has clearly chosen to demonstrate rather than perform which I find much more persuasive as a reader.
Liked the post enough to read it twice and the second read found new things, and a stop at ketteglademarketstudio similarly rewarded the second look, content with hidden depths that only reveal themselves on careful rereading is the rare kind that earns lasting respect rather than fleeting first impressions only briefly held.
Will be sharing this with a couple of people who care about the topic, and a stop at pearlpocket added more material worth passing along, the kind of site that is generous with quality content and does not make you jump through hoops to access it which is appreciated more than the team probably realises.
Reading this post made me realise I had been settling for lower quality elsewhere, and a look at yourdailyvalue extended that recalibration, content that exposes how much I had been accepting in adjacent sources is content with calibrating effect on my standards and this site is performing that calibration function across topics for me reliably.
Will be sharing this with a couple of people who care about the topic, and a stop at wonderviewgoods added more material worth passing along, the kind of site that is generous with quality content and does not make you jump through hoops to access it which is appreciated more than the team probably realises.
Now appreciating that the post left me with enough to say in a follow up conversation, and a look at coastalbrookstore added more material for those follow ups, content that prepares me for related conversations rather than just informing me alone is content with social utility and this site provides that social armament reliably for me.
Now planning to recommend this site in a context where my recommendations are taken seriously, and a stop at believeinyourdreams confirmed I should make that recommendation soon, the small but real act of recommending content into spaces where my taste matters is something I take seriously and this site is worth the recommendation.
Came in confused about the topic and left with a much firmer grasp on it, and after urbanwildroot I felt I could explain this to someone else without hesitation, that is the gold standard for any educational content and most sites simply fail to reach it ever which is unfortunate but true.
Reading more of the archives is now on my plan for the weekend, and a stop at shopwithjoy confirmed the archive worth the time, the rare archive worth a dedicated reading session rather than just casual sampling is the rare archive of serious work and this site has clearly produced enough of that work to warrant the deeper exploration.
A piece that read as if the writer was thinking carefully rather than just typing fluently, and a look at softblossomstudio continued that considered quality, the difference between fluent typing and careful thinking shows up in writing and this site reads as the product of thought rather than just the product of language fluency apparently.
Now feeling the post has earned a proper recommendation rather than a casual mention, and a stop at flarefoil reinforced the recommendation strength, the difference between mentioning and recommending is a small editorial distinction I observe in my own conversations and this site has earned the upgraded recommendation level from me confidently today.
Really appreciate that the writer did not stretch the post to hit some target word count, the points end when they are made, and a stop at goldenmeadowsupply reflected the same discipline, brevity is generosity in disguise and this site has clearly figured that out far better than most blog operations have.
Thanks for keeping things clear and to the point, that is honestly hard to find online these days, and after reading through curiopact the message stayed consistent which makes me trust the information being shared more than I usually do on similar pages that cover this same kind of topic.
A piece that built up gradually rather than front loading its main points, and a look at isleparish maintained the same gradual structure, content that trusts the reader to reach conclusions through accumulating reasoning is more persuasive than content that announces conclusions and then defends them and this site uses the persuasive approach.
Felt like I was reading something written by someone who actually thinks about the topic rather than reciting it, and a look at sunsetcrestboutique reinforced that impression, the difference between recited content and considered content is huge and this site clearly belongs to the latter category which I appreciate as a careful reader looking for substance.
A piece that did not lecture even when it had clear positions, and a look at urbanstylechoice maintained the same teaching without preaching tone, finding the line between informing and lecturing is hard and most sites land on the wrong side of it but this one has clearly figured out how to inform without becoming preachy.
Probably the best thing I have read on this topic in the past month, and a stop at briskcanopy extended that ranking, the casual ranking of recent reading is informal but real and this site has been winning those rankings for me on this topic specifically over the last several weeks of regular reading sessions.
Decided to read more before commenting and the more I read the more I wanted to say something, and a stop at globalseasonstore pushed that impulse further, when content provokes the urge to participate rather than just consume it is doing something quite specific and worth recognising clearly when it happens during reading.
Felt the writer respected me as a reader without making a show of doing so, and a look at cozytimberoutlet continued that quiet respect, this is the kind of small but meaningful detail that separates the sites I bookmark from the ones I close after a single skim and never return to again no matter how interesting the headline.
A particular pleasure to read this with a fresh coffee, and a look at meritmarina extended the pleasure across more pages, content that pairs well with quiet morning rituals is something I have come to value highly and this site has the kind of energy that fits naturally into a calm reading routine.
Picked this up between two other things I was doing and got drawn in completely, and after frostorchard my original tasks were completely forgotten for a while, content that derails a workflow in a positive way by being more interesting than what you were already doing is rare and worth recognising clearly.
